Does SpeedCam AI upload any video or images?

No. Every frame is processed on-device using Core ML on the Apple Neural Engine. Video, images, and bounding boxes never leave your phone. Firebase receives aggregate usage counts only.

What iPhones are supported?

iPhone 12 or newer running iOS 26. Object detection runs on the Apple Neural Engine, and some advanced analytics views require iOS 26.

How accurate is the speed reading?

Two independent estimators (closed-form velocity and homography projection) must agree within 20% before a reading is shown. A 30-frame rolling median filters outliers. After a short calibration period, accuracy is typically within ±2 mph at 25–35 mph on a well-mounted phone.

Do I need a tripod?

No. Any stable mount works — a window, a dashboard, a tripod. A vanishing-point calibrator learns your camera angle from passing traffic. For faster accuracy, drop a 2-point reference line on any road feature of known length (e.g., a crosswalk stripe).

What data formats can I export?

PDF reports, JSON, CSV, and industry-standard TMAS volume/speed files. Exports can be filtered by campaign tag, session, or confidence level.

Can I analyze a pre-recorded video?

Yes. Tap the Tool Palette and select the video import icon. Choose any video from your library — footage from a Nest, Ring, Wyze, Arlo, GoPro, or your iPhone all work. SpeedCam AI runs the same on-device detection and records every vehicle ≥5 mph as a speed survey.

Can I connect an IP camera?

Yes. SpeedCam AI connects directly to Reolink, Amcrest, Tapo, Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Ubiquiti, and any other RTSP-capable camera. ONVIF auto-discovery finds cameras on your local network automatically. Video decoding runs on your iPhone — no cloud round-trips.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. You can run live detection and analytics on a demo dataset for free. Paid tiers unlock incident capture on your own data, full exports, and the RTSP add-on for IP camera streaming.
